deleting a judgment?

I have documents from the court saying this judgment was PIF and dismissed, doesn't this mean it should be removed from my CR?

Also, I have the copies of the documents ready to go to the CRA's but cannot find experians address anywhere. Does anyone have an address for them?

Re: deleting a judgment?

Pretty sure a paid judgment stays on your CR 7 years from the filing date.

Re: deleting a judgment?

Bubbles,

A judgment will stay on your credit report for 7 years from the filing date, not the paid date.

Did you pay this before your court date?  What exactly does the paperwork say that you received?

Re: deleting a judgment?

Donks,

When I got the summons,I called the plantiff (a dentist) and hse told me if I paid then she would cancel the complaint. I did PIF but she went through with the judgment anyway. My papers say it was PIF and dismissed.

Re: deleting a judgment?

Dismissed is very different from "satisfied." Paid judgments stay there for 7 years. Dismissed ones means the judge withdrew it or the suing party did.

If you have papers that say "dismissed" then send copies to the CRA with a dispute. Otherwise, you will need to find the clerk's office where this judgment is filed and get the papers to see what actually happened. Depending on what you find, you have different recourses.

Re: deleting a judgment?

Likewise, Thanks that was the answer I was looking for. The papers say DISMISSED not satisfied. How do you suggest I do a dispute?

I wrote a note saying please delete from cr to the cra's with a copy of the court documents.

Is this good enough?

Re: deleting a judgment?

They do take what seems like FOREVER to update things sometimes. I would think that a regular dispute and a copy of the paper that says "dismissed" would do it. If you've already written, you are better off not writing again until you hear from them or they might start all over. See what they say and then proceed.
