disputes

Ok, I have done a lot of online disputes to all 3 credit bureaus lately and I have about two accounts that are stubborn to remove. I disputed an account on transunion it was removed. However, equifax verified the debt and it stayed. I have sent a dv letter via cmrr. The company responded back and verified it's me, however they responded with an old transposed address. Is this minor discrepancy enough for deletion? Who do I send this info to get removed if it is enough evidence?

Re: disputes

What is the purpose for the disputes?  Is there something incorrect with the posting?  Do you have proof of it?

Re: disputes

By proof, are you referring to the address discrepancy? If so, yes. It was printed on their documentation and they put the last name wrong on the correspondence. Double whammy for them.

That would mean the dispute is frivolous and without merit.  The dispute system was created to remove incorrect infornation from your reports.  Just because it is there is not a valid reason to dispute.  If a baddie is reporting correctly, there's no reason for a dispute, a GW to whomever is reporting would be more appropriate.

Re: disputes

So, what is the point of checking credit reports for errosr? They put the last name wrong and the address in response to my dv letter. This is detrimental to my credit report for 7 years. Am I supposed to just let it go?

Re: disputes

The purpose of the credit reporting system is to give lenders an idea of your credit worthiness.  If you had a debt that went bad and it appears on your report, then it is reporting correctly and shows that you have had a problem.  myFICO is not like some of the other credit forum boards that will advise anything to get things off of your report.  We follow the CROA guidelines when it comes to working on your report.

Therefor we do not allow the disputing of accurate information to be discussed on the boards.  If you have an inaccuracy, then that is cause to dispute, such as the wrong name on your report.  But in answering my question earlier, you stated because it was on your report, which is not a valid reason.

Some people are too quick to hit the dispute button, which can cause problems of its own.  I was recommending a different approach to the situation.  Such as a direct dispute or a GW.

Re: disputes

I disputed it both ways. The reason u first disputed it because the amount was high owed and it didn't show who the debt was owed to. Sorry for the confusion

Valid disputes.  Now you said one of the CRAs verified it.  You need to send a 623 direct dispute to the creditor now.

Re: disputes

Yes, I found it odd that they verified it through equifax but Transunion removed it. The 623 is basically a cease and desist?
