I have a few closed collection accounts and a charge off on my CR and i was wondering if there was a letter i could write to the CB to get them removed....
i have an old accout from citifinanical that was opened 3/1/2005 the amount on the account is$3,891.00 and it has been closed and charged off, i called the EQ,EX,TU to get it taken off because it is over 7yrs old and they told me that they can't take it off because of the type on account it is.
i have over 8 account that are closed collection accounts, some of them are not that old but i was wondering if i could get those removed.
im new to this and i don't know where to start..

The first thing is to obtain all 3 hard copies of your reports directly from the CRAs through the US Mail, you would then sort them into groups and then work on 1 group at a time. The Date of First Delinquency is the date that controls how long an item remains on file (its 7.5 yrs max from this date), On this account opened in 05 you would need to find the DOFD and then figure from there what the removal month is, the type of OC credit account has nothing to do with the time it can report, its all the same. There are some things that can report longer they are PRs though and not credit accounts (BK & Tax LIens). If these items end up being within the allowable time to report then you would start a campaign of GW letters to the reporting entity in an attempt to get them removed. Welcome to the board ![]()
