how do I fix this? PLEASE help!!!

I don't want to make a really long story out of this so here it goes. I just found out Saturday, that I have NUMEROUS ( approx. 25 ) collection accounts for medical bills on my CR, I talked to the hospital & doctors offices and they have been billing my insurance wrong and were attempting to balance bill me when they shouldn't have been. A couple they are trying to push back through to my ins. company for balance payment before it goes to collection. How do I handle all these medical collections? I contacted one of the CA but have not payed them anything due to not knowing what to do yet. I currently have an average of 597, mainly due to the CC's I had, the vehicle I am financing, and A prior vehicle purchase ( 3- 30 day lates between all). The reason I have SO many of these collections is because my wife was hiding them thinking I wouldn't find out. ( I know what your thinking...but...I don't know why either) These have accumulated over the last 5 yrs. Please let me know what steps I can do to fix this. I have one other than medical which is from AFNI for a cell phone that got cancelled, but that one also fell into the HIDEN box. I live in California so I think it takes 7 yrs before they are gone. What should I do?

Thank You.

Why would that work?  The CRAs don't care who was supposed to pay.  As long as the creditor reports you owe the money that should be all that matters.

Keep on top of the hospital for this and make sure they understand that since it was a billing error on their part that you expect them to make sure that this does not end up on your credit reports and that if it does, that they will have it removed.  I'd send a letter to their HIPAA compliance office explaining the situation, too.  Google "HIPAA letter process" for info on one method of getting medical collections off of your reports - I've had partial success with it.   I wouldn't necessarily go that route at this stage, but if you read through it, you might get some ideas as to what you want to say to them / put in your letter.

Another thing you should do is have a sit-down with your wife.

They are already on my credit report, th couple that aren't are the ones they are pushing through insurance company. Going to try to get a letter from them stating that it was thier fault, sounds crazy but I am gonna use the excuse of "trying to get financed, please help me". or maybe some other B.S. to get it. Should I go about the HIPAA process since they are on my credit report?

So the ones that are already on your report are not related to an insurance billing issue on their end?

yes, about 18 are. others are from lack of payment

(UPDATE!!!)

Talked to hospital today, they are gonna process through insurance again. They said, they have been charging wrong part of insurance company after I gave them info AGAIN. They said they will notify CA's to hold & wait for payment. If all of this is resolved how do I go about getting it removed? or can I even do that?

HIPAA works best if you haven't talked or communicated with the CA.  Google it and see what you think - it's a long process, and in all likelihood dealing with the OC is going to work out better for you if they're at fault (and maybe you'll get lucky based on them being partially at fault).  I'd deal with the OC first.  Then HIPAA if that doesn't work.
