input needed regarsing CA

So I've been dealing with RPM CA regarding an amount owed to Verizon. Verizon still owns the debt, but farmed it out to RPM. I tried dealing with Verizon directly but they told me it had to be done through the CA. Fine, I call and talk with RPM offering to pay in full on OCT 3rd, he said he couldnt, and had to be by the 30th (seriously, what difference does 3 days make? Anyways it went nowhere and I ended the call. Today I get a call from them, trying to collect, I told him I can pay on the 3rd, I already have all my money tied up this month in paying off 2 other collections tha agreed to pfds. Now keep in mind , RPM hasn't reported anything on ky credit, neither has Verizon, so obviously there is some urgency in getting this taken care of asap. Well the guy goes on guilt tripping me, blah blah blah. Well he says something to me that the last agent from that CA said, " you have a very good credit score, I wouldn't want to see it get hurt" my fico is 542, how is that good? They obviously are making things up to try to convince me to pay, luckily I already knew what my score was. The last thing he said today was, if this isn't paid or settled, we will "charge it off" and return it to the OC. Can the CA report it as a charge off on my credit asvhe just threatened to do? Also if they can't, is this a good thing for me that this will be returned to Verizon so I can just deal with them, rather then any ca?

Re: input needed regarsing CA

The CA is reading from a "script," and probably knows how to feed off your emotions. Bad combination for you.

CO is just an accounting term. Means unpaid/150+days late or more, typically.

Whatever the last status of the OC is, that's what the CA can report.

Keep calling the OC, and ask for other "higher ups," to escalate this. You'd benefit from retraction, unless their strict postion is that the CA does all their in house collection activity. Only takes one person to hear you out, and say they'll play ball.

Last option. Pay, and GW the heck outta them.

Re: input needed regarsing CA

So I called, no answer. left a message, hope they get back to me on Monday.

So is it a good thing they threatened to return the debt to the original creditor? if they do like they say, can they report the collection to the CRAs as a chargeoff if the debt is returned to the oc?

Re: input needed regarsing CA

A CA can't charge off anything.  They are collecting a debt for the OC.  Only an OC can CO a debt.

They can cease collections and return it to the OC.  That would mean they would have to delete their tradeline per the credit reporting guide.

Re: input needed regarsing CA

So its a good thing that they threatened to return it to the oc? If so, they made it sound so bad haha, maybe they just said it like that because they won't make any money if they return it. They haven't even reported anything to the CRAs yet, if they are planning on sending it back to the oc, and they haven't reported anything, yet they have made subtle threats to my credit score, makes me wonder if they ever had any intention to report. Sounds kinda illegal.

Re: input needed regarsing CA

Yes, it would be a good thing to be returned to the OC.

Once it was, you would immediately contact the OC and take care of it before they had a chance to assign to another CA.

Re: input needed regarsing CA

I actually sent an email to the ceo of Verizon. The next day I got an email from their executive office giving me the executive office phone number and to call them on Monday. The person in the office apologized in the email and stated to call to get everything setup for retraction. I can't pay until Oct 3rd but I think I will be able to get it retracted and the payment setup. I also put in my email that I manage a business that sells a ton of Verizon products, and that regardless of their decision I'm still going to make them as much money as possible lol
