What exactly defines what a validation is from a credit collection agency?
I have disputed information on a paid medical collection agency, and they sent me back validation. This validation consisted of:
1) A detailed statement of their charges and how I paid them. This was all printed out on their own computer forms.
2) A copy of the medical sign in sheet that I signed on the day that I was in the doctor’s office. It has most of my personal information on it. At the very bottom of the sheet, where I signed it, there is this paragraph:
“I understand payment is expected at the time services are rendered. I understand that insurance coverage is a contractual arrangement between myself and my insurance company. I understand that should my account become past due, I will be responsible for all fees, interest charges, late charges and all costs of collection including, but not limited to attorney’s fees and court costs. My signature on this from authorizes the release of any information relating to claims filed on my behalf and also authorizes payment sent directly to Dr. X.”
Do these things fill the criteria for validation? Is this everything that they are bound to do by law?
I am considering writing the Attorney Gerneral’s office of my state and I want to know if there is anything that I can say or do that would help me to get this paid collection account off my credit report.
Everything I have disputed to the credit reporting agencies has been verified electronically.
Any help any of you can provide to me would be very appreciated.
