insight needed on if this is appropriate

What exactly defines what a validation is from a credit collection agency?

I have disputed information on a paid medical collection agency, and they sent me back validation.   This validation consisted of:

1)      A detailed statement of their charges and how I paid them.  This was all printed out on their own computer forms.

2)      A copy of the medical sign in sheet that I signed on the day that I was in the doctor’s office.   It has most of my personal information on it.  At the very bottom of the sheet, where I signed it, there is this paragraph:

“I understand payment is expected at the time services are rendered.   I understand that insurance coverage is a contractual arrangement between myself and my insurance company.  I understand that should my account become past due, I will be responsible for all fees, interest charges, late charges and all costs of collection including, but not limited to attorney’s fees and court costs.   My signature on this from authorizes the release of any information relating to claims filed on my behalf and also authorizes payment sent directly to Dr. X.”

Do these things fill the criteria for validation?   Is this everything that they are bound to do by law?

I am considering writing the Attorney Gerneral’s office of my state and I want to know if there is anything that I can say or do that would help me to get this paid collection account off my credit report.

Everything I have disputed to the credit reporting agencies has been verified electronically.

Any help any of you can provide to me would be very appreciated.

Is what they sent you accurate? Is it reporting inaccurate? Any time you send a DV for a medical collection, you are giving them permission to get your records. HIPAA isn't violated then since you ASKED for it.

Re: insight needed on if this is appropriate

The information doesn't appear to be accurate based on the date of service.

I am guessing that I could write to the AG and just tell them that i think it isn't reporting 100%accuratel and send them the information that the CA sent me, and just get their thoughts on it.

Maybe the CA has covered themselves very well......weird, though........almost everyone seems like they don't have that difficult a time getting paid collections off their report, but this one has stuck to me like glue.

I got the opposite impression. It appears that anyone who has had a paid collection removed had a tough time doing it.

Stay in there, it'll happen!
