Englsh is my hubbys 3rd language and although he speaks it very well he gets easily flustered and intimidated when someone is trying to pressure him. So far its worked out where I write the letter and he signs it and we have been able to get things resolved that way. Now we have one stubbord CA whos ignored our letters and as well as a BBB complaint. I want to call them or go to the office since its not too far from me but I'm pretty sure I'll get the we can't discuss this with you. Is there anything I can do to be able to handle this myself. Hubby is on board with giving me "permission" we just dont know what we need to do about it.
He can give them permission to have them deal with you.
Is it really that simple? We dont need to go through a lawyer or get anything notorized?

No. All he needs to say to them on the phone is he gives you permission to talk to them.
+1 Shogun, Where is my food son??
Under the FDCPA 805, Communication in connection with debt collection, the term consumer includes the consumers spouse. So they really don't need his permission.
Who owns the debt the orginal creditor or the collection agency? You try to talk to the original creditor about the debt and see what they say.
I have been cleaning up my husbands credit and have not come across any problems dealing with CAs and COs. Just start the conversation with "I'm Mrs. Jane Doe calling about my husband's account John Doe". No problems!
