medical collections

Spoke with the OC and they said I could still pay them and they would report it paid at the end of the month.  The oc isn't showing on my cr  just the ca.  the date of service is jan 03, march 03 ,oct 02 and dec 02 and jan 02  Which means some are soon to coming off but I cant wait so I think I am going to pay them  the OC and then does the collection agency have to remove them?  If I  understand this process right  after i pay i send a pre hippa to the ca or is it the crs?  this is where I get confused.  if some one could just list the steps really simple I would greatlt appreciate this

Re: medical collections

I agree, there are no easy steps listed and the HIPAA process is very confusing!! I just posted the steps of the process and had it clarified by a mod in this thread:

Good luck!!!

Re: medical collections

Unpaid med collection:
- write letter #1 in the link below and sent it CMRRR to the CRAs and wait 35 days for their decision
- if it's deleted your done (though it could be reinserted if you pay it)
- if it's not deleted and the CRA verifies the debt, you then move on to Letter #2, use insert A and send along with a payment for the full amount owed to the OC (NOT the CA) via CMRRR.

During this time, do not communicate or DV the CA. This is where things can get very tricky, and if you little or no experience with DVing, you're bound to screw up. If after letter #2 you have failed to get the collection PIF and removed, post in the forum, we will try and help you.

PAID med collection:
- write letter #1 in the link below and sent it CMRRR to the CRAs and wait 35 days for their decision
- if it's deleted your done
- if it's not deleted and the CRA verifies the collection (as paid), you then move on to Letter #2, use insert B, paid, and send it to the OC (NOT the CA) via CMRRR.

Again, do not communicate with CA.

Unpaid or paid med collection that you is NOT yours:
- write letter #1 in the link below and sent it CMRRR to the CRAs and wait 35 days for their decision
- if it's deleted your done
- if it's not deleted and the CRA verifies the debt, you then move on to Letter #2, use insert C, not mine or sent to me in error, and send it to the OC (NOT the CA) via CMRRR.

Again, avoid the CA at all costs.
