need a plan of attack Please help

Hello everyone

I am trying to raise credit score to apply for mortgage (fha maybe) and because I’m sick and tired of having collections and CO hanging over my head. My current scores on my fico are eq 630, tu 585, ex 627. Fico 2 (used for mortgage) is 594. I would like to reach 620 asap but will cont good credit habits to increase my score as high as I can. I need help coming up with a plan of attack. Order of priority based on fast score increase. I have about 3,000 that I can use now and can devote approx 300 monthly toward credit repair. Is it possible to get the score I need within six months or am I kidding myself? Thank you all for any help you provide.

Re: need a plan of attack Please help

You need to get two more revolving accounts established. Just doing that will likely get you over your goal after a few months of perfect payment history. You could probably get a second Cap One card, and then get a secured CC from another lender like a CU.

Address the Niagra Bank CO as it has the potential to worsen if they send it to collections.

Call NY Electric and gas again asking for PFD. RECORD THE CALL. Call until you get a rep that tells you they will do it, thats a valid, enforceable legal contract. Hold them to it.

Afni - pay it and get it removed now under NY state law (remove paid items at 5 year mark).

Re: need a plan of attack Please help

thank you so much NormanFH

I did not know that paid items can be removed after 5 years in nys. Does that include charge offs because the last date First Niagara shows a payment was June 2010. I nothing else works I would pay them again and have have the CO removed this summer. No more CO remaining, that would be great!

Also do you know anything about the rules re: recording phone calls? The accounts were opened in nys but i now live in florida. Do I follow the laws for florida or the laws for the state where the company representative located?

Thanks againSmiley Happy

Re: need a plan of attack Please help

Ahh, If you are now in florida, the NY law really doesn't apply. Sorry.

The 'two party consent' rule that exists in about a dozen states really does NOT come into play in these cases. The reason is that THEY are almost certainly recording their customer calls, and if they have a "this call may be monitored" statement on their phone system, then that constitutes implied consent for you to record as well. Courts have pretty consistently ruled that one party cannot record while denying the other party the right to record.

ok so as long as they say or have a message saying the phone call may be recorded then I can also record...thank you.
