old child support case question

good evening everyone. I have a old child support case that reported a few lates a few years back. Ironically, they garnished my wages i could not pay directly ( good ol California) anyway, this case has been closed for well over a year. Is there any sort of law to have Child support removed when it's closed and nothing is owed? I thought i read somewhere that was the deal. I really hate seeing 5 lates from 2011 on my credit file. Thank you!

I can't answer about having it removed, but child support isn't calculated in your scores if that what your worried about.

FCRA 622 mandates inclusion of child support delinquencies in credit reports if the delinquency antedates the credit report by less than 7 years.

The issue of scoring is separate.

We are having the same issue.

I have many late payments on my report. They have been garnishing my check for the past 3 years and still reported 180 days every month until i got caught up. Mine is on 2 child support cases though. 1 of the cases has been reporting OK for the past 13 months & the other has been reporting OK for the past 4 months. Also my late payments have been recorded for the past 7 years.

I did notice that the Texas AG office made improvement reports to my case. They have changed some of the payment from 180 to 30 & also changed the status from derogatory to curent. Both of my cases are still active & I still owe about $500 on each.

I just think you would like to know that my lowest score is 627 on EF & I have been approved for some new credit accounts within the last 3 months. NOT MAJOR CREDIT LINES, BUT A GOOD START store cards & an instalment loan of $200 I got to show a recent instalment loan.

MY CHILD SUPPORT ACCOUNTS ARE ACTUALLY HELPING ME BECAUSE THEY ARE MY OLDEST ACCOUNT. 7 YEARS ON EACH.

I think I have 75 late payments marked 180 every month. NOW THEY ARE BOTH BEING MARKED OK EVERY MONTH.
