Hi
I have a couple of credit cards, and one of them is with open sky... they charged me an annual fee that I missed to pay (just paid it 2 days back) but still it is showing as unpaid/missed payment.
Now it is showing under my credit report as missed payment and decreased my credit score by about 100 points.
Q) how can I get it removed from my credit file?

You can ask very, very nicely open sky to grant you a goodwill deletion of the late payment. Do not dispute it with the CRA as it is a valid late and it will just come back verified.

How late is the payment? it has to be a minimum of 30 days late to hit your report.
I had luck getting one removed many moons ago by cap one by talking to them and explaining what happened, ymmv
should I call them? or write a letter? or both?

CALL. btw my situation was very similar to yours. i had a cap 1 card with zero balance for months and forgot it until i got a letter from cap 1 in red print that i was a few months behind, and they also reported it to the cra's. i called them and calmly told them i had the card payed off and didnt realize the annual fee hit. they looked up my record and said everything aligned with what i said and they removed all penalties and marks on my cr's. i remember it took like 3 months for the cra's to delete those lates.
it was actually the annual fee and since I moved to a new location the mail was misplaced by the kids. I paid it off as soon as I got the email reminder email from them.
yes, it was pending for a few months, not sure how many.
I called openSky and they asked me to send the request (to take out the negative marking) via mail. Which I did
but they refused to take it out.
What should I do next?

Well lesson learned. 30 day lates after 2 yrs leave a small dent in your score. They dont last long like 60/90/120 day do. You can never turn your back on credit. At least once a week check your accounts online. Things like this happen often. Its usually annual fees, trailing interest, ect. Most of all. Any charges you didnt make may pop up without notice/texts. Then it can be fixed. On my desktop is an icon for each creditor. I changed the icon name to Creditor and the number for statement date closing. Comes that time of the month. I click on it and take a peek that all is well. Little things can help you stay on top of your credit so this wont happen again. Set up notifications on each creditor to recieve a text when the statement cuts.

Unfortunately if they don't want to remove it, there's not much else you can do. You can try asking again, but that's about it. Whatever you do, DO NOT dispute it.
