Can paying off a Charge-off account from 2007 help build your credit score.
Whos reporting? The OC or the CA? Is the OC reporting a CO with a 0 balance? What do the comments say in the OC listing if reporting?
Essentially, a CO whether paid or otherwise would have no impact on your score. Since its from 2007, it actually might drop your score a little bit as the account would update and FICO could look at it as a recent baddie.
So yeah, paying it off would not help your score in that sense. But if its still with the OC, its a very good idea to do so as it would stop it from being assigned/sold to a CA which would be a whole different mess. Besides you could always send out GWs to the OC later and also, this a/c might be helping your score depending upon how old it is and type of payment history its got.
