I have never checked credit reports before (my own fault), so just found out this very recently -- there is one collection item for a medical bill 6 years old. It shows up on only one credit report, but I still want to get it fixed as it's affecting my medium credit score.
After calling the CA and offering to pay the full amount (~$200 with interest), they agreed to delete my record, but didn’t want to put it in writing. They promised to provide a receipt with its back stating they will delete my record. I don’t feel secure at all.
Is the amount too small to incentivize the CA to sign a written agreement for PFD? Also, collections for medical are removable as other collections, right? Many thanks!
