Hello all,
US Bank credit card question, here.
I went 60 days late on my US Bank credit card 3 months ago. I then quickly overpaid the balance beyond $0, I believe I overpaid by $100.
Wrote about 30 goodwill letters begging for forgiveness over the past two months.
Today, I saw that on my card activity there are two "Reversal of Late Fee" posted that correspond exactly to the amount of late fees for the delinquent payments I was reported for. And there was also a "Reversal of Annual Membership Fee".
I called US Bank to find out if this was simply them getting rid of the fee or if it was an actual removal of the two missed payments. The customer service person told me she couldn't say.
Does anyone have any insight to this? Its nice that they reversed the late fee, however I wrote the goodwill letters asking for the marks to be removed and now I'm not sure if it was.
Also, just bought an updated fico report on all 3 bureaus, but nothing has changed since the first of the month. US Bank is showing as last reporting to FICO in February, and the "Reversal of Late Fees" was posted on March 2nd.
Thank you in advance.
I don't know---but I hope it does mean they will delete the lates.
Just checked my mailbox.
us bank sent me a letter saying they were denying my goodwill letter. Letter was dated March 3rd.
The late fees were reversed on March 2 when I look online...
I wonder why they reversed the late fees? Just to be nice or as a consolation for denying my goodwill request?
hmmmm...so strange!
Okay...so now I'm thinking maybe because I overpaid my balance in an effort to make things right after my missed payment they took my late fees off??? Gah. So confused.

I believe 60 is a tought nut to crack on a GW. You could always try again in a few months. In the meantime did you set up autopay ? Keep using the card and they might cut you a break in 4-6 months.
Yes! I set up auto pay for the full amount. I feel like a complete idiot, the late payment was over just $13.87. 🤦♂️ my mom had passed away suddenly and I had to rush out of town to handle all the stuff that comes with a family death and then take over the role of my fathers caretaker. Definitely wish I had set it on auto pay back then!
do you have any insight as to why they rejected my goodwill letter and then reversed all the late fees for those missed payments?
They may have refunded the late "fees". But the lates on your report will stay.
Damnit. Do you think the reversal of the late fees was due to the fact that I overpaid my balance?

Does it really matter why they reversed the late fees? I'd be vomiting in my mouth over the fact I dinged my credit with a late over $14.

I'm curious if they reversed the late fees as a response to my overpayment or if it was a response to my goodwill letter. I guess I'm thinking that if the late fee reversal was due to the goodwill letter that might be as good as I'm gonna get and should throw in the towel for writing more GW letters. But, yes I am pretty upset with myself. And you definitely have a good point in terms of it not really mattering why the late fees were reversed...I probably have been dissecting the issue too much!
