talked with CA!! help!

they rang my home phone, calling in response to a PFD. they explained all they could do was mark it paid, and i said well before i pay a debt i don't recognize, i would need proof it was my debt, (i didn't say i was iffy on it, because it could have been my old roommate's account (a very old landline from 1993). then she got nasty, saying i had admitted responsibility by writing to them. then she claimed she never got the very letter she was calling about! thing is, it would be a landline from 2003. cr says dola 2005! Re: talked with CA!! help!

Send them a DV, CMRRR.

Date open is when they got the debt.

DOFD is what CRTP goes by and when that date is changed, then it is said to be re-aged.

Hi, Lafishy,
There is some legal basis for their statement.
When dealing with a CA, admission of debt is, in many states, legal basis for resetting the SOL.
Most CAs regard a PFD offer as an admisssion of the debt.  Granted. only the judge decides this should it go to court, but it is usually not good for you to offer a PFD if you dispute the legitimacy of the debt in the first instance.

Re: talked with CA!! help!

Maybe- but you can't reset SOL on a debt that the SOL has already expried.

Resettting SOl only extends the amount of time they MAY be able to sue-

Re: talked with CA!! help!

i think i may then be misunderstanding some fundamentals here. since i don't know the DOFD, i don't know the SOL....right?

or am i missing something?

this debt is past SOL?
