understanding med collect delete procedure

So, I must say that I was so excited to come across this about medical collections and HIPAA, I had a credit score over 700 before I bought my house almost 2 years ago and now it is barely over 600.  No lates, several new credit cards...... need to do house repairs, trying to figure out how to get a boost in my score so that I dont get stuck with an awful rate..........(and want a good rate so that I dont worry)......

so, why is my score low.....I would assume 8 med collections..... I didnt know that once they were paid they had to be removed....so... that is my goal...... the confusion for my lies in the process.

I am one of those people that I can read something 100 times and still be confused and come back 5 years later and wonder why in the world I had such a  hard time with it......so... in advance .... forgive me.

I have optedout online,  and then I need to opt out with each creditor? then, if the debt is valid, pay the original HCP, then send the letter to the CRA and CA?  and after I hear from them if they havent removed it, then send the letter to the OHCP ?   Is that correct.....

I hope that what I am asking makes since....and I am sorry for having to have my hand held...(it is irritating)

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums!

How much do you owe in total? Did this debt come from hospital or doctor bills? When did you receive treatment? If you have to, can you pay these bills in full?

Re: understanding med collect delete procedure

The total for the 8 collections is 1200$, yes right now today, I can pay them in full..... they are all bills that are supposed to be 52% mine and 48% my ex-husbands, they are bills for the kids.  he isnt ever going to help and the providers tell me that since I sign the authorizations for treatment, I have to pay.....  These have been incurred in the last 2.5 years......,   with that said.... I do have a BK on there from 2003, but that was there when the score was a little over 700....  the bills are from radiology inc, an orthopedic center, an outpatient surgery center, a doctors office and 2 hospitals.... hope that helped

Use the HIPAA letter process and follow-it to a T. Opt-out with the CRAs and your current creditors that you are good standing with.

OPT-OUT CREDIT REPORTS OPT-OUT ALL CREDITORS

then send the following to the CRAs using personalized stationary and teal blue or purple ink.

PRE-HIPAA MEDICAL DISPUTE LETTER

Good Luck!

ok.... just so I have this in my pretty little head... I will PIF the OC (document on back of cashiers check?) and then I will send the HIPAA letter to the original OC for deletion d/t no longer having a business relationship with the CA since the debt is paid????? and wait for reply... then send letters to CRA  or send letters to CRA as soon as paid .then check reports?

(see I told you I cant get this wrapped into my head)

(I am sure that these are all valid)

Re: understanding med collect delete procedure

ok.... just like I said... I went back, read my questions and the given replies.......

this is what I understand

PIF the OC, use the verbage on the back of the check/moeny order (not sure about that part), send pre-hipaa letters to CRA's.  How long do you wait after payment to send the CRA letters?

I know.... I am being a pain in the butt... I apoligized in advance...... I just dont want to mess it up....

for curiosity sake...... why personal stationary and teal ink.... I will assume so that it has to be handled by an actual human?????????

Re: understanding med collect delete procedure

What you are attempting to do does not follow the HIPAA letter process. Please read my previous post. As for the stationary and font guidelines, you're right.

Re: understanding med collect delete procedure

ok, so essentially, I am going to do this as If I am unsure if these are mine or not and then go from there..... I believe that I understand now.  I was going from the view that I was going to PIF the OC to save some time and to lessen the possibility of not having the money to pay them off

so... CRA's first and tehn wait for 35 days..... so, I will let you guys know how this goes..... thanks a bunch and sorry for my goofiness
