You don't have to have anything from them. If they agree to removing from collections, then you can probably trust them.
You can write on the back of the check where they sign "Not to be transferred or assigned" Deposit in the account of XXXXXXXXX only.
This keeps them from assigning your payment or transfering your payment to the CA. But if they agree to remove from collections then I'm sure they will. Most OCs honor their word. Their reputation is much more important to them than a CA's rep to themselves. CAs don't care if you tell ppl how bad they are, everyone already knows.
You can ask them for a letter that states the account is being removed from collections and they are collecting on it.
Yes, they'll have to be the one to tell the collection agency to cease collections that they are taking it over.
Whoever is reporting will be the one to tell the CRA to delete.
