Collections not showing on report

Hello Everyone,

I just got a call last week from CBE regarding some medical debt from about 2 1/2 years ago.  My question is these 4 accounts totaling $190.00 dollars are not showing up on my report at all.  I can pay all of these today but, I am scared if I do they will of a sudden show up on my report. On the other hand, now that they have my new address and phone number, I'm scared if I avoid them they will report them.  What is the best way to handle these. I know the OC will now accept payment now that they have been sent to collection.  Do I just pay the CA and cross my fingers they don't report it.  I have worked really hard to boost my score and about to reach the 700 club.  I really don't want to start over again.  Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks Everyone!

Have you contacted the OC to see if they'll accept payment from you?

Re: Collections not showing on report

Your situation is not that unusual, believe it or not. These debts are 2 1/2 years old, yet they have never hit your reports, so if you pay them now, what will happen. From emy xperience, its possible the CA might report them as paid, but its not guaranteed. This is were HappyDays and I disagree. He says pay it, I say heck no. Its not reporting and there is not proof in writing that you owe this debt. Just because you think you owe, doesn't mean the CA has a business purpose to collect. When was the last time you had any communication the OC and the CA? Including letters.

Re: Collections not showing on report

Last contact with the OC was a little over two years ago.  Last contact with CA was last week when they called my home.  I asked them to send notice in the mail.  They called two days later and I told the guy was waiting to get the statements in the mail to review them and since it has only been two day they were not here yet.  He said they would call back this week.  I think it is possible that these were on my report at one time.  I had a total of 14 collections on my report 2 months ago, some from this CA.  10 of these collections mysteriously disappeared.  The 4 remaining are all paid already, one of them is from this CA.

Re: Collections not showing on report

Ok! This is interesting. So, you have four paid med collections on your reports and one of them is with the same CA that is holding 4 unpaid collections that are not reporting.

Re: Collections not showing on report

It's actually 3 paid collections on my report.  I just looked again.  Yes, one of the paid collections on my report is with the collection agency holding these 4 unpaid one's that are not reporting.  This report is from March 31.  I'm thinking maybe I should pull again to see if they have popped up.  I haven't gotten any alerts though.

Re: Collections not showing on report

Has this one CA been consistently calling you for 2 1/2 years?

Re: Collections not showing on report

No.  Last letter I got from this CA was about 2 years ago ( for the collection on my report that I paid).  Last week was the first contact in 2 years.  They called my home.  She said they had sent letters previous to the call.  I told her I had not received them and she told me the address she had.  It of course is my old address.  I told her I no longer live there and have not for almost a year now and never received a letter from them.  I gave her my new address (was this a mistake) and asked her to resend to me so I could look it over.

First of all, you should never talk with a CA on the phone. What is your goal with all of these collections?
