Hello all, I have another post I started Here about my start to rebuilding my credit. (contains all my information on my CR's, less personal information ie account number, SS# etc).
There's only 1 item on my credit report that I am unsure of, and I am going in the direction of DV first, then Hipaa Letter.
I did the Opt-Out Credit Reports, but I am unsure of Opt-Out All Creditors.
Far as i can tell, I have no creditors. It states at the website:
If you're not sure which companies sent you opt-out forms, simply list the name and address of any company that sends you statements in the mail: banks, credit card companies, department stores, insurance companies, etc.
Now I do get something from the bank, but it just tells me that my Statement is ready, but it is electronic, and the only other type of "credit" account would be my car insurance company. Other than them, no CC's, department stores, etc. I haven't recieved any type of credit app's in the mail in many years.
So, do I need to write the opt-Out letter to my insurance company? Any others that you might suggest?
Thanks!
You would only opt-out with creditors like banks, credit cards companies, auto finance companies, mortgage lenders. You do not have to opt-out with insurance, cable, or utility companies.
If your last item is a med collection, I highly recommend you use the HIPAA process. Sending a CA a DV letter without knowing the consequences is dangerous. Is the med collection paid or unpaid? If unpaid, can you afford to pay it if you have to?
Thanks for putting this where it belongs, I was unsure.
For the bank, i have no loans or credit lines through them. That will be the only one I have.
As far as the med collection, it is unpaid, and I can pay in full if need be.
I don't have much doubt that this is a bill of mine, the $ amount stands out in my mind, just can't remember from where.
Maybe my best bet for this collection would be PFD?
Sorry, I'm new to all of this and my head is on overload with all the information I'm reading
Thanks
Ok then, Hipaa process it is.
Thanks for responding
You're Welcome! The next two steps.
2.) Also, be sure to update your personal information with the CRA's before attempting to reestablish your credit.
3.) Send the pre-HIPAA dispute letter to the CRA ('s) CM (no RR, this is the only letter in the HIPAA process where you will not send it CMRRR) and wait up to 35 days for the results of the their investigation(s). Be sure to handwrite this letter (and the envelop too) using personalized stationary and teal blue ink. If your med collection is deleted, you're finished. If its not deleted, please post again in this thread for more advice. Good Luck!
