DV response -- Help please

I have received a response to a DV that I sent out on a listing on my credit report. This is an older listing and it is due to drop off in Aug 2011, however I have been trying to get everything cleaned up on here. Anyway the response that I have received from this company was a form letter basically where they input my information and then they have check boxes that they check. This is for a medical bill and it gives the account originator, the client reference number (I assume from the OC) and then the account number of the CA. It then thanks me for my correspondance and says that they have investigated my credit reporting dispute and determined that it fails to meet certain requirements for the following reasons and then the check is next to the sentence that says Please provide documentation to support your dispute. It then says that if A above is checked (which is where this check box is located) you may resubmit your dispute with the additional information noted and says that if I have further questions feel free to contact them at the number listed. It has a printout list attached that has lab work listed on it and has the balance but doesn't show if insurance paid anything or not and it does have some information on my insurance on the first part of this paper. I guess I am confused by this response to my DV. I sent the one that is on this site to them. Can anyone tell me what I need to do now? Do I send them another DV letter and attach this saying this is not DV or could this technically be considered DV? Please help!

Re: DV response -- Help please

Have you ever disputed this med collection with the credit reporting agencies? How much do you allegedly owe? Is this collection on all three of your reports?

Please read the med collections and HIPAA letter process in my sig line if you haven't done so.

Re: DV response -- Help please

Yes I have disputed this collection at least through one of the reports and it came back as verified. It says that I owe $163, which if I pull it up on the hospitals website that this bill is for it says the same thing so I want to make sure that I do need to pay them and that they are authorized to collect on this bill before I pay it off. The hospital website will still take payment as well. It is reported on all 3 of my credit reports. I have read the HIPPA process and have tried to understand it but I do have other bills on there that I do need to pay off as well and I can't pay every one of my medical bills off right now. I have a couple for the hosptial I currently use as well from when I had a big problem and my insurance ran out but I am trying to make payments on that as often as I can. Anway how do I know that they are who I need to pay for this bill if they are sending me something asking me to send documentation on this debt validation and I thought that I read that you never send them anything or give them any information on the debt because they should be able to verify everything.

Re: DV response -- Help please

Since you disputed this med collection, is it now marked as "disputed and/or verified" on your report(s).

Re: DV response -- Help please

It says under your statement --

Completed investigation of FCRA dispute - consumer diagrees.

Can they put this on my report when I am asking for validation of the debt?

I have never received anything from them on this debt, I went through all of my paperwork on bills that I have the other day and I do not throw anything away until it is completely paid and gone, never have. Went I went through this stuff I found stuff that I paid off when I was 19 and I am now 33 and that stuff was paid. On my CR it says that it was opened and reported in 2007, which would be since I was living at the address I am living at now so I know I haven't gotten anything from them in the past on this.

Re: DV response -- Help please

Unless something has changed since you last disputed this med collection, its unlikely the CRAs will investigate again. In other words, another dispute probably won't get you anywhere. You will have to wait at least six months to begin the HIPAA letter process.

Keep in mind disputes go to the CRAs, while DV letter go to the CAs.

Re: DV response -- Help please

Yes I know that DV's go to the CA and not the CRA. I sent this DV to the CA and I assume that they are the ones that updated this as a dispute on my CR because I did not and when I disputed it it did not have anything on it about a dispute at all. This company has never sent me anything about the collection nor have they contacted me by phone about this debt. I have sent DV letters out to some of the others on my report before trying to pay them off and this company is the only one that put on my record that I dispute and then sent me a letter asking me to provide documentation to support my dispute, when documentation is what I was asking them for. So I guess there is nothing I can do about this then? What is the point in trying to figure out if they can collect on the debt if they are going to put that it is disputed on your CR? This is just going to make things worse off for me in the end.

Re: DV response -- Help please

I think the HIPAA letter process will work for you, just not right now. I would wait six months.
