Following the HIPAA steps got an initial fraud alert placed on my credit reports

I mentioned this on another thread, but wanted to have a new one in case the same problem is happening to others.

I followed the HIPAA process step by step all the way through Step 3, scenario 3 (5 paid collections, all paid, the CRA never responded in any way to me).  Step 3 seems to have triggered a fraud alert on my 3 credit reports.

The strange thing is, that when I checked on Chase ID Protection today, all the med collections were gone from all 3 reports.  Yet when I got home there was a letter from TU stating that they have verified the collections and will not remove them.

Have they removed the accounts temporarily or are they really gone? Not sure if I should wait out the 30 days or just give up entirely. There seem to be no more steps to take, and I have a fraud alert to top it all off.

I can't say that the HIPAA process caused the FAs, although you are the second forum to mention this. It looks like they have been deleted. You might want to pull your reports directly from the CRAs to know for sure.

I will pull them tonight when I get home.  Do you know if they pull items off temporarily during a dispute?

This just happened to me too, today.  I went through the complete HIPPA process and am waiting to hear from the CRA and a Fraud Alert has appeared on all 3 credit reports, it says for the next 90 days.  It has to be HIPPA because that is all that has been happening to my CR's.  Meaning, I haven't applied for credit anywhere, no fraud has happened to me, etc.  Does anyone know why this is happening?

Maybe the CRAs are on to something. I'm going to have to do some digging to see what I can turn up.
