HELP! I have a collection on my CR from the OC can I still use HIPPA?

I have a medical collection account for $75.00 that I can PIF. The CA is the provider.I would deal with them directly. I sent them a PFD, and their response was that they could not take it off my report but instead show it paid in full. What is my next step? I didnt follow the HIPPA process since I was dealing directly with the Dr's office. This was reported 10/2007 my SOL is 4 years! Someone please help! I don't know what to do now.

Are you 100% certain the OC is reporting this med collection? Its illegal for an OC to report a med collection. If you can, please paste the collection in this thread so we can see it.

Because the OC is reporting ( as Fused said that is illegal and means that they fall under all laws dealing with reporting laws)

I would pay them off and then start the HIPAA process.

Wait till your check clears and then start the process. Be sure to hand write the disput letters.

Wait! This is a med charge-off. Are you sure there isn't a collection on your report too? I have never seen a med CO on a report.

No, this is all that is showing up.It is actually a fee they are charging me because I missed an appointment with them and didnt cancel in time.Anyway, I just want it off, but that is exactly how it is showing on my report. What do you suggest?

Are you also sure that this med CO is not under the "collections" part of your report?
