I had a medical debt, although I didn't know it was a medical debt at the time, that I had seen on my credit report. I sent a PFD letter to the collection agency (again didn't realize it was medical). I received no reply but 15 days later the account was pulled from all three credit reports.
I thought that was the end of it, until today I got a collection letter from a different company with the same debt amount and creditor (albany med.) now I'm not sure what to do, the HIPPA process says to dispute with the CRA first... problem is it's not on any of my reports now. I still don't know what it is as the previous collection agency never actually replied, just deleted, and apparently sold to someone else. I don't want this to end up on my credit report AGAIN with the new company after finally getting it removed. What should I do? I don't think I can dispute with the CRAs if they don't have it listed, and I really don't want this to show up on my report again. Thanks for any help as always!
Do not contact the CA! Call the OC to get the info needed. The date of service is important as it can only be reported for 7 years from Date of service.
medical providers assign a collection to a CA they do not sell it.
When you talk to the OC and IF you have an outstanding debt....ask them to mail you a bill.
