Pre-HIPPA response...need decoder ring help!

Hello!

I have been reading the boards for a while and trying to get a handle on things so that I can buy a house. Well in following the HIPPA process, I received the following response to a Pre-HIPPA letter sent to CRA and have no clue what this means as I have 4 medical collections from a car accident in 2003 on that report:

"Thank you for contacting TransUnion. Our goal is to maintain complete and accurate information on consumer credit reports. We have provided the information below in response to your request.

Verification Documents not Available

We store information in our records as it is supplied to us by creditors. When information is disputed, we are required to investigate and record tyhe current status of the information. We do not provide dispute verification responses received from creditors. If you need to obtain documentation or written verification concerning your accounts, then please contact your creditors directly."

Any ideas what this means as all the collections are still showing up on TU report?

Thanks in advance...you guys all rock!

Welcome to the forums!

Are these med collections paid or unpaid? If unpaid, can you afford to pay them in full? On your TU report, does it show these collections have been disputed and verified?

Hey fused...thanks for reply

They are ALL paid. On the TU report some say paid and some say unpaid but there is no notation about dispute. The letter was dated April 9 though I did not receive it until April 16. I pulled my TU report on April 15th for an unrelated matter.

I am more confused by the statement " Verification Documents not Available"

What does that mean? That TU was not able to verify the debts? If so then shouldn't they be removed?

I should add that they were all paid in 2005 by my lawyer on my behalf as part of the car accident insurance settlement.

Can you pull your TU report again? Make a hard copy of it and save it. We need to make sure if the med collections are still on your report. TU's response means that they cannot share private medical information with you and that they have instructed the CA to validate the debt? That's really stupid, if you ask me. I assume the CAs have not sent you anything (validation)?

Pull your TU report and get back with me. I have a good feeling about your situation, even if the collections are still on your TU report.

Ok just pulled my TU report again and the collections in question are showing as disputed....does not say verified.  And no I have not received anything from the CAs yet. Should I just wait for them to respond? How long do I wait? To be fair the 30 days is not up for another week.

Thanks

You should wait a total of 35 days.

OK will do! I will also let you know if/when I hear anything from the CA or anything else from TU or the other CRAs.

Thanks fused!

Re: Pre-HIPPA response...need decoder ring help!

Ok I pulled my TU report again this weekend and all 4 of the previously mentioned medical collections are gone! But I have not received an updated CR from TU or any other letters...is this a temporary state while they finish the investigation (last contact with TU said they would be done with investigation by May 7)....so can I start to breath sigh of relief that these baddies are gone for good or are they just temporarily gone until the investigation completes?
