Hello,
I went through the steps re: the HIPPA /Collection process and I sent the letter w/ the insert that I am enclosing a check made payable to the OC only. They sent me a letter back stating that they were not in violation of HIPPA and that communications with the CA were in compliance with HIPPA and appropriate records will be maintained on this account. What does this mean? Should I now dispute again with the Credit Reporting Agencies? Thanks so much for your help.
Hi,
Yes I did and they did send me a statement that read my account my for a co-pay that was never made when we went in to deliver my daughter. All this for a co-pay of $100 that I thought had been paid but when you are in labor who knows what went on!!! :-) I thought I followed the procedures correctly, after they sent me a letter validating my debt I sent the letter to the OC w/ the paid insert part. Was that not correct? I am afraid now that this will be a paid collection on my credit for another 7 years ;-(
Thnx for your help.
Disputed by consumer. No I have not mailed those letters, will this do any good if the OC is stating that the collection company has a right to report "payment" information?
Thanks for your help.
They're wrong! After the HIPAA letter is received by the OC, you always send the letter below to the CRAs. The CRAs should investigate because you are providing them with new information.
Send the follow-up dispute letter below to the CRA’s CMRRR along with a copy of the green card from the HIPAA letter to the OC.
Tigerfan, Just so that you know.....medical collections must be deleted from your CR 7 years from Date of Service. Other collections must delete approx 7 years from DOFD.
The date paid does not change these dates at all.
