Amusing Memory

Many years ago, I was working as a customer service associate for Citi. All day long I answered questions about statements, charges, credit lines, etc. It could be brutal sometimes.

One day a lady called and was hopping mad. She had gone to get just a few groceries (less than $40 worth she said) and her card was declined. She didn't have any cash or other cards with her so she couldn't complete the purchase. Embarrassed the daylights out of her.

She demanded to know why we had declined the transaction. I advised her that the card was over the limit and payment was 30 days overdue. She said, "My husband said he paid that!" and demanded to know what charges had been made on the card.

I went over the most recent month's charges. There were charges from several bars..."dancing" establishments..."adult" phone lines... and so forth.

I was interrupted by the sound of a door opening and the lady screaming, "JIM!!!!! Explain this &$+$;#-   =¥=|°%=¢✓ !!! "

I got to listen for a few minutes until she remembered to hang up the phone. Made my day.

Re: Amusing Memory

Similar. Years ago as newly hired young & dumb employee at a cell phone company I took a phone call from an older sounding lady. She was complaining that her husband's phone rings every night and constantly wakes him up but always from someone calling the wrong phone number, so she wants the number changed NOW. Explained that I need to speak with hubby for authorization from the account holder. She was so INSISTENT that I broke corporate policy and changed the number to get her off the phone. Not even 5 minutes later the phone rings again and it's a very young sounding girl complaining that she's in a phone booth trying to call her boyfriend because supposed to meet him but he's an hour late. Unhappy she's getting a disconnected number recording and demanding to know exactly WHEN he changed his phone number! I asked what number she'd been calling and you already know where this is going..😅

Re: Amusing Memory

Hilarious!  Nothing like a butt dial resulting in an interesting conversation overheard or a forgotton hang up.  Oh, the entertainment.
