Re: Anybody pre-ordered PLASTC?

I ordered two Plastc cards.  One for me and one for a friend.  This company had already delayed shipping from September 2015 to April 2016.  So I then get another email from them.  Another delay in shipping all the way to September 2016.  Then they tell me it will not be shipped with barcode ability meaning I'll still have to carry all of those store loyalty cards on my keychain.  They promised a firmware upgrade in the future for the barcode.  I sorta felt like the delays were about money issues as they try and lure in even more customers.   So I cancelled both orders so I don't lose my money if a bankruptcy happens.  Plastc spent alot of money on advertising rather than production.

Re: Anybody pre-ordered PLASTC?

I really thought about ordering one in the future ... but I already have enough AFs without yet another subscription fee for a credit card.  Why exactly the subscription anyway, to me it feels kinda like just charging you for the sake of charging you, but maybe I missed something they are providing for that fee.

I feel like they're trying to launch with at least a couple of bank partners but have had poor luck getting anyone to sign on. Personally, I don't think any bank will give up their private encryption keys for their chip cards to some random startup, so I don't think EMV support will ever happen for Plastc. But who knows?

Re: Anybody pre-ordered PLASTC?

Plastc will be obsolete when it arrives.  I just looked into Samsung Pay and Android Pay.  I want these durn store loyalty cards off of my keychain.  I'm trying note to buy a new Samsung phone just for this.  Then I came across a free app named Cardstar.  Take a picture of or manually type in all of your store loyalty cards and the barcodes come up on your touchscreen free of charge.

Re: Anybody pre-ordered PLASTC?

I kind of agree, especially if they keep pushing off the delivery dates. Although I've been using Key Ring (Android) for store loyalty cards for years. The problem with this is that not all bar code readers are capable of reading screens. I'm guessing it's a glare/reflection problem. Anyhow, my problem with Plastc is bigger than their delivery dates. It costs so much more than Swyp, Swyp appears to hold a few more cards (although I fail to grasp these silly arbitrary limits), and has an annual subscription fee, which Swyp does not. Also shorter battery life than Swyp. They seem to be on the fence about the subscription model, but so far, the only benefit of Plastc over Swyp seems to be the larger display. You seem to be interested for the barcode aspect, that's less of a concern to me since I use Key Ring, but Plastc does seem better suited to that -- although if they intend to push that feature, they better increase the card memory. I have more loyalty cards than I do credit cards. Oh, and Swyp is expected to delivery its next batch early summer this year.
