This will be the second time I've been summoned in a span of six years. Last time was two years ago and for the most part it was pretty uneventful. I had a high juror number so, I sat in a giant holding room all day until they finally dismissed us due to a settlement before trial. This time I have an extremely low juror number so, I'll be in the first group / first trial to be called in for the actual selection process. I would prefer to NOT be selected as I don't want to miss work (month begin is extremely hectic in the office with super tight deadlines I can't fall behind on).
So if you have any funny / interesting stories while going through the whole process - post 'em here!
sexual assault of a minor by a family member. made the pool, didn't get selected though.
I did some research online to see what type of trials are actually coming up through our local courthouse. For the most part they are civil cases - battles between families / entities over the estate of the deceased or, medical malpractice trials. This sleepy tourist town has a pretty low crime rate.
Although the next town up has a very high crime rate with quite a few trials for murder, rape, etc. When I was younger I considered relocating there for the cheaper cost of living, but I'm so glad I decided against it.
I was one of the hangees on a hung jury. Never received so much abuse in my life.

Reminds me of the movie 12 Angry Men that we watched in Govt. class last year.
I remember my first time in Jury Duty and I was sitting in the waiting room literally ALL day from 9-4:30 and didn't get called all for $17.20!
But the funny part is while in the waiting room there was a tv and it was on Maury. I remember an man who was an executive was sitting behind me and yelled "They have me here waiting and watching this Bullsh.." It was hilarious!

See, at that point I would've made a game out of it. If those Maury episodes they were showing happened to be the ones featuring paternity tests, you could start a big pool of bets on whether or not the accused man in that episode was the father or not. Could've made waiting a little more interesting.

thats a great idea. I should have thought about that then. It was Maury so of course it was a paternity episode. lol
