Anyone else having to resort to buying face masks from unverified sources? I bought one box from Amazon, however, I can't even pull the product up when I click on it and the other box was from a website recommended by one of my neighbors.
I haven't received either package, but the tracking seems to be coming from shipping companies I've never heard of without solid dates of arrival. Anyone heard of 4PX?
Have you been charge on the Amazon order? Never heard of 4px but found this: https://www.aftership.com/couriers/4px and
Ambiguous shipping dates have been a problem for months. When I checked Amazon in February, quite a few masks had estimated shipping dates in late April or May. There seemed to be a lot of "resellers" selling inventory they hadn't sourced yet.
Going the homemade route might be one of your better options for the time being.
Keep in mind there are very few medical-grade masks (surgical, N95, N100, and the like) currently available in retail distribution. A few are on ebay as a "grey market" item (officially banned but apparently still being sold). And if a mask isn't medical grade, it might not be any more effective than a folded cotton pillowcase. At least the latter can be cleaned in the laundry.
New egg had them at a reasonable price yesterday for a few hours but went out of stock. Got 50 for $30. Already shipped, just got lucky although little protection imo as not surgical or n-95 which i would never take from healthcare workers at this point in time, but better than nothing i suppose and just tear off and throw away after i get done at the grocery store or what not.
In all honesty I think I already had it as a few weeks ago had raging headaches for a few weeks in a row and a rarely get headaches they have since gone away so hopefully just a mellow case.
I've experienced anger in grocery stores when I see people with n95. I'm yet to see one that's properly fitting, most of the time straps are so lose, or one of the straps is just dangling.
Total waste of something that we have to re-use at work because of shortages.
I could maybe understand if they were worn properly, but they aren't
On top of it, those people will move them away from face when they start talking.
I have to put deodorant on my face to stop perspiration because my face is breaking out and blistering. Reusing mask makes it exponentially worse.
I ordered some surgical-style face masks from Wyze.com a week ago and they are scheduled to arrive Monday. Not bad.
I also ordered some from a popular seller AliExpress and haven't heard much... lol

yes totally infuriating when I see people out wearing these type of masks mean while we are wearing recycled ones at the hospital.
They are not fitted for these , they aren't even remotely wearing them correctly . Homemade masks are easy to make even have ones with no sewing required that are sufficient for people venturing out to shop .
I either see people wearing nothing 😡or people wearing those🤬

Got my 6 regular masks. Just soaked them in the sink with some Dawn last night. Hung out to dry on the patio. But no N95's for me. They rip the bridge of my nose. Actually the N100 is more comfortable. You exhale and out goes my hot as hell breath. Love the fools that wear gloves in the grocery store. #SMH
I had a friend who bought some cheap looking masks from a Dollar King, started to fall apart after 2 days. They were selling them for $5 for an individual mask! And you are only able to buy one per customer.
They give us N95 masks every once in awhile at my work (I work as a Custodian), but someone found some surgical masks for me. Will ask for sure where they found them.
