6 ft USB power cables are around $40 and up. You could try and find a USB extender cable. They run for about $7.00 for a 6 ft cable.

A USB extender cable is just a USB cable with a male on one end and a female on the other. Not hard to find online for cheap. In stores they are a little pricey.

Best Buy and Compusa both have them but they run for around $25 and up.

Me, I am cheap and would get it on line.

You can use a wireless print server which is a box that connects to your printer via USB and ties it to your wireless router. You install some software on your laptop (or any wireless computer) and can print from the couch, bed or bathroom. Cost is about 50 clams for a print server, maybe less if you shop around.

As geeky as we are in this house, we email everything needing printing and use the single upstairs printer.

There is always sneaker-net too, fueled by any one of a score of flash drives that is floating around.

LOL @ sneaker net, that's funny. Reminds me of a guy I know who has his assistant print all his email so he can read it and make notes for her to email reply for him.
