Chase SP new design???

I got my new CSP in the mail today and I noticed that while it's still made of metal, the design is quite different from other CSP's I've seen before. Overall it's substantially lighter and no as thick. Also the name on the front and the account numbers on the back are now raised. I now some customers were complaining that older card machines couldn't take an imprint of the laser etched numbers. Did chase release a redesign or do they have different versions of this card available? It's still a nice card with great rewards but the old design was pretty awesome looking.

Re: Chase SP new design???

A picture wouldnt really show enough of a difference and since the main part that has changed (besides thickness/weight) is the personal account info I obviously can't post that.

Out of curiosity I called chase and they said nothing has changed with the design but it was weird that the numbers were embossed instead of engraved. They're mailing me a new card so I'll find out soon if I'm just crazy lol.

Re: Chase SP new design???

my CSP reissue definitely feels different than the orignial one I had. this one doesnt have a good weight to it, while it added the statement on the back top not to shred as it contains metal.

Op I said the same thing when my card came!! I never had a csp but I have held other people's csp. The new card is lighter and I noticed but thought I was crazy.

Re: Chase SP new design???

Glad it's not just me. My card does have the statement at the back top that says not to shred as well. Over the past few years I've seen dozens of these cards while keeping my old job as a waiter part time and I know mine is substantially lighter. I'll know for sure next time I come across an older issued one. Not really the end of the world here but I'm not sure why they would change such an awesome design since this is undoubtedly part of the reason many of us chose this card over its alternatives.

Puzzling, could it be cheaper to reissue a lower grade card for renewals somehow? OP, let us know if they re-send the normal card. Mine renews near the end of the year, was looking forward to it after all the scuffs and wear and tear, now not so much Smiley Sad

Intriguing. New to csp. It feels nicer than my other cards but not as weighty as I expected.

Name on front and numbers on back are raised.
