I hit Valued Contributor at 1050 posts, but it took almost 30 minutes to register. Post 1050 was at around 6:32 pm yesterday but didn't rank up until 7:00. I'm not sure if this is known or not, but this suggests to me that there is a scheduled task that runs periodically looking for users ready to rank up, possibly run hourly.
