Credit One Promos in the Mail -- What They Say vs What I Interpret

"Dear ****,

We know that even though you had a horrible credit score years ago and you now could get an American Express Gold Card if you wanted to, you might still be nostalgic for subprime credit cards.

Consider getting our subprime American Express card, with barely a 2K credit limit (if we make it that high at all), super ridiculous interest rates, and a very high annual fee.

We at Credit One are like family -- broke family. Family that always needs all your money, family. If you are "country" enough, we can put a WWE logo on it for you.

Greedily yours, Credit One -- always pretending to look like Capital One and hoping you fall for it."

At least they don't require a 3X pull for approvals.....Smiley Very Happy

They also have better rates than cap1 if you have good credit. Heck their rates are better than just about every prime lender if your credit is up to par.

That Amex card also has the most amex benefits on a 3rd party card, and at least in my case with no credit score they gave me a no AF card. The app is pretty clean and simple and I have never had an issue with paying. I really dont understand the hate of all of the subprime will give credit to anyone cards they dont seem that bad compared to first progress, first premier, open sky, ETC.

They even have a no fee 2% visa, and their 5% platium card is somewhere between a BCE and BCP.

I dont get the hate, I really feel like credit one's biggest issue is their clientele. Let's face it the vast majority of C1 customers that have billing issues and get stuck with fees, are likely the cause of the billing issue and likely have a credit history that deserves to be charged fees.

I may have outgrown my Credit One card but it is hardly a bad starter/rebuilder card. June marks 2 years I have had this card and not a single issue. It really isnt the Issuer, it is the customer.

Re: Credit One Promos in the Mail -- What They Say vs What I Interpret

Well the offer they sent me in the mail has a pretty hefty fee -- not that nice one you posted. It is a very mediocre offer. It is definitely not a great card offer. I am laughing at the general idea of still getting pretty subprime offers when I have great credit now. It's a joke. No need to take it so hard.

Re: Credit One Promos in the Mail -- What They Say vs What I Interpret

I have the no annual fee Credit One AmEx, with a MASSIVE $1200 SL.
They recently offered me and "additional" 3% cash back on Amazon purchases until some time in May, with sounds like it would make it a total of 4%.
Wouldn't be too bad if I didn't already have 5.25% on online purchases with my BoA CCR card(preferred rewards member bonus).

I have gotten a couple of emails in the past few days trying to give me their X5 card with a $1k SL, but when I click "view offer," it only shows a $300 limit.🤣
It is a shame the limit is so low, and unlikely to grow much, it would be a really good card if it had a decent SL, no annual fee though.

They've had products with good terms for years. Unfortunately, they have a stigma attached to them that they can't shake. A few years back I posted a page from one of their stockholder meetings that showed all the variations they offer. If a remember correctly, some rates were in the low 20s, no af, no monthly fee, etc. I think it was a smart move on their part to expand their portfolio and partner with Amex. I've also seen them give out healthy limits in the 3-5k range. If they keep it up, they may change a few minds.
