It might have said Valued member, but at least VALUED !
Not anymore !
Not sure about that BF. I know there are tiers depending on how many post you have. I've never paid much attention to it.
@Anonymous, you were promoted from Valued Member to New Contributor (a higher rank).
You can see the chart here: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/User-Guidelines-General/Community-Ranks/td-p/3888542
Moving up in rank is determined by a formula only known to the admins (not even the moderators know the specifics), however we do know that it does not have anything to do with 'kudos', and is said to be tied to how much time you spend on the forums and a number of other things.
I moved your question here rather than de-rail your other thread with the explanation.
Feel free to let me know if you have additional questions.
Thanks.
I appreciate your response to my question.

Some research on this was done a while back and summarized in a different thread (see link below). Two key factors we know of are # of posts and minutes on-line. we were able to accurately estimate quite a few of the minutes on-line thresholds following a system glitch. That glitch dropped minutes on line for many posters to essentially zero without affecting # posts. I and others dropped from vlued contributor (or higher) to member. Since established posters maintaineed # posts, progress through rank changes could be attributed to re-gaining minutes on-line and passing through thresholds.
Minimum posts for given ranks can be fairly accurately estimated by reviewing profiles having a given rank in aggregate. Here's the table - FWIW
http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/SmorgasBoard/Community-Ranks/m-p/4650002#M56651
AGAIN - These should be considered minimum thresholds to potentially move up in rank. Other conditions need to be met as well. For example one poster may move up from valued contributor to senior contributor shortly after post count reaches 3000. However, another poster may not see the rank change until 4200 posts because minutes on-line or some other factor has not been satisfied. Key point is it looks like Senior Contributor status can not be realizzed with fewer than 3000 posts.
Interesting hypothesis, @Thomas_Thumb... I'll leave that stuff to you and others to speculate on.
I only started this thread so @Anonymous wouldn't think he had been demoted in rank, since he hasn't been. FWIW, once you reach a rank you can't go 'backwards' unless there's a system glitch (and if that happens it should be eventually corrected).
Since Bluefooted's issue has been resolved I'm locking this, but if anyone would like to further discuss the ranking algorithm feel free to start a new thread on the topic.
