Goodbye, MyFico!

Today I woke up wondering, why did app for DC yesterday? I had been gardening for 3 months, but after this relapse I've realized that if I keep coming to this board, I'll never be able to commit to gardening the way I used to when I started my credit journey (4 years between apps). I love you all. Goodbye!

Bon Voyage. We'll see you when you're done gardening. Smiley Wink

Perhaps we need to come up with another term in addition to gardening. A word that means hard core gardening where you don't even visit any credit related websites, staying away from all temptation.

What would be the point of that?  The point of having a gardening thread here is so people can talk about their gardening and their successes, etc.  If you had some uber form where you couldn't even do that, there would be no point in even having it...

Talking about gardening helps some people. For others, it doesn't help at all, as evidenced by the threads/replies in the impossible to garden threads. And also this thread. The only way for some people to not app is to stay away from sites like myFICO. I'm gonna call it hard core gardening.

Question: "Where's thelethargicage?"

Answer: "thelethargicage is hard core gardening!"

Re: Goodbye, MyFico!

I agree with OP's strategy. If he/she feels that reading this forum triggers negative behavior then by all means... it's best to stay away. This is why alcoholics don't (or at least shouldn't) frequent bars.

I've definitely curtailed my visits on here since I found myself apping for cards I don't need and really don't want. (I currently have 16 open lines). Rock bottom for me was apping for a completely useless FBNO card in January. This summer when most of my cards hit the one year mark, I will be closing many of them. My goal is to be down to 7-8 cards which is MORE than enough for me.

Good luck OP with your credit journey!

Re: Goodbye, MyFico!

Honestly I haven't officially joined the garden thread but I tried to garden in my own lil way. However, whenever I am actively on this forum (and that's several times a day) I can't seem to stay in the garden LOL. I have app'ed like 6 times since I've comitted to "gardening" ......4 of those were approvals thank goodness. I completely understand where the OP is coming from, I don't think about app'ing until I come to this forum LOL. Anyway, I LOVE LOVE thios forum, can't seem to stay away Smiley Very HappyHeartSmiley Frustrated

Especially since it's a bit redundant with your FIA card, unless you're spending a lot at places not accepting AMEX.

Re: Goodbye, MyFico!

I'm just as addicted to Myfico as I am app'ing. I "officially" entered the Garden once and fell out 2-3 times. Haven't been back since. Too much shame in resetting the clock. I rather do it quietly, so if I fail, I do that quietly too.

Coming here does put the battery in my back, but seeing Sp CLI "heads up" threads(ie Discover) does help with the itch...as does PC'ing to Double Cash and trying to lower my APRs.

Re: Goodbye, MyFico!

Good luck on your journey, OP.  I've had a bit of difficulty with gardening lately, but I haven't apped.  I've mostly been bored when I wanted to app, not that I desperately wanted a new card.
