How many different credit cards and charge cards are issued in the U.S. ?

edit: I used this neat tool called Google, and found out Wallet Hub thinks the number is only 1,000 different CC.  

So after phoning a friend I'll answer "1,000".

There are more than 1,000. Wallethub reviews 1,000 cards. Elan Financial (US Bank) issues cards for 1,400 partners, TCM Bank  for 750 partners, UMB Bank for 250 partners, Commerce Bank issues about 69 cards, First Bankcard (FNBO) issues cards for 250 partners plus the cards issued for the others banks.  Elan Financial issues 6 cards for each partner. My initial count was wrong. My conclusion: there are more than 10,000 different credit/charge cards in America.

One correction: Elan Financial issues only 3 credit cards for many partners.

The funny thing is when you search credit cards, and supposedly over 1k yet searches always showing same credit cards we all know lol. So im gonna venture out and say there are 25 credit cards in the US

I've ran through my fair share but nothing like some of my peers. 

My numbers are a drop in the bucket to the number of CCs available.

Maybe 10 or so hidden and 75 still reporting.
