So I thought it could be fun to share how many points you have across your loyalty/rewards programs (at least your main programs, not like "i have 37 hertz gold plus rewards points, lol) and how you earned em, maybe some strategy, or what you plan on doing with em. =]
Above are my current balances. No idea what I plan on doing with them right now. Thinking about using the amex MR points for a trip to australia, but I haven't really decided yet to be honest. Any ideas greatly appreciated. My marriott numbers will be climbing soon, as I switched megabonus promos, so my double points won't post until after the promo is over since I need to contact marriott to get it to post correctly.
As far as how i earned them, the amex MR points came from the platinum card (still waiting on some to post, they're so slow), my citi thankyou points are from spend and the citigold bonus I just received (40k points). The AA miles are 50k from the USAir card, and then other assorted miles from spend/travel. All my current marriott points are from card spend and hotel stays, and various promos (socal media, marriott pulse, marriott rewards insiders and whatnot).
This isn't meant to be a measuring contest of who has the most points, but just a tribute to what you can do with some creative credit applications and spending. Plus I'd love some ideas for what to do with some of these. =]
My numbers are rounded up...
Hilton- 655k
Marriott- 288k
SW- 115k
Delta- 288k
Amex MR- 65k
Chase UR- 10k
Citi TY- 115k
I travel 3 out of 4 weeks in the month.
My balances are pretty low, all under 10k at the moment.. I burn my points as I earn them. Time value of money = a point is worth more today than tomorrow.
My card ones are:
MR - 141k
TYP - 58k
Venture - 50k
Discover - $130
I used to travel a lot, in 2008 I flew 9 times in 4 months internationally. Unfortunately, I wasn't smart enough to not let the Avios expire back then.
Chase UR - 348K
Amex MR - 255k
AA Miles - 290K
United - 48K
Delta - 72K
SPG - 38K
Citi TYP - 72K
Marriot- 226K
Diners - 72K
Jet Blue - 28K
Virgin - 148K
I racked up my points from alot of CC sign up bonuses, special offers like Direct TV, Citi Gold, Shopping portals and regular spend plus lots of retention offers. Also use sites like rokect miles when it make sense.
I really dont like the AA program becuase they NEVER EVER EVER have SAVER awards available, especially compared to United, wiwsh i could exchange those for another airline.
My main goal in earning points is to use them for BIz/First class interantional flights. Sitting on a plane for 20 hours+ in Economy today is pure torture.
I have a First Class Suite booked on Singpore Air for December form LA-->Tokyo--->Singapore--->Johannesburg and back. This is probably the best value ive been able to get. using points . All four major CC programs transfer to Singapore Air so easier to accumulate them . This ticket would cost around $24k and i used 325K points to get it.

Maybe its just the places I was trying to book to.....LA to Sao Paolo, LA to Honk Kong. Ive had pretty good luck with United getting saver awards for most flights I have booked.
