I have heard it all....but not this!

So we have this receptionist at our office....seems to have a manic personality - not that I am a doctor, but it's obvious when you notice behavior patterns in people - either really "up" or really "down", no middle ground at all and lots of drama......The woman probably wants attention and the only way anyone seems to pay any attention to her is by telling outrageous stories... With that said, our receptionist certainley has the BEST stories ever.Stuff I would have never dreamed of happens to her...or a family member.. But hey, at least she shows some level of creativity in her pathologic lies...

The latest is:

Her daughter was "jumped" last night - and goes on to tell everyone that there have been a series of robberies in her daughter's apartment complex in the last couple of weeks - but get this - the daughter was robbed over food...is the economy that bad that theives can't even eat anymore?  LOL...apparently her daughter was at home while the thieves broke in trying to steal her food -  and a man and woman attacked her. Daughter is currently in the hospital because the robber bit her arm and the robber's tooth broke off in her skin...what? theives bite too? must be pretty hungry!!

I've never heard of being robbed for food before. Money, jewlery, audio/visual equipment, but food? crazy isn't it.

Re: I have heard it all....but not this!

Maybe her daughter did tell her this "story" because, she couldn't tell her what really happened.

My old boss is a drama Queen, eventho we were laid off a year ago. She calls me every few months to tell me, that she can not believe what her familyor friends are doing. And she goes to every funeral she can find, her neighbors relative or friend of a friend.Last year it was someone she didn't know, but they were both in the same  huge fishing contest together

But I talk and listen to her, sometimes she says I'm the only friend she has. I really like her, but the stories and what she does, is a little far fetched. I love her anyway, she is always there for me too, when I need someone to talk to or just listen to me.Heck we all are not perfect, I know I'm not.LOLSmiley Wink

Her story may not be as farfetched as you think. I recall reading a story on our local news website a couple of weeks ago about a guy who was awakened at about 2 AM by a noise in his kitchen. Thinking it was one of his kids grabbing a snack, he went to his kitchen and found an intruder invading his fridge.

He chased the intruder out of his house and  down the block. A few blocks later, the intruder turns around and shoots the guy in the chest. Last I heard, the guy was in critical condition.

Being robbed for food? Yep.

Interesting Cobra. I bet that is where she got the story and embellished it with the broken tooth in the arm! Had to change it up. I guess anything is possible, but instead of the receptionist having Friday off, she didn't come in to work on Wed or Thursday...what a long weekend.  I did peruse the newspapers and didn't find any stories about this...

It's the boy that cried wolf stories....really....which is why i highly doubt the story...woman has come up with everything under the sun and I do think it is entertaining...like she had a hysterectomy a few years ago then got pregnant two years later....I can't even finish the entire story as I may offend some people and I don't want to do that, but it's so far feteched...

I suppose people will steal for anything but IF i were a crook, personally, i'd steal small, expensive, sellable items, not a box of cracker jacks...but that's just me...

Re: I have heard it all....but not this!

Some people just like to talk. Others need to draw constant attention to themselves. Otherwise, nobody would ever pay attention to them.

Incidentally, the story appeared on the NY 1 news web site about 3-4 weeks ago, I believe. At first, I thought the story rather amusing, until they reported on the part where the homeowner was shot chasing the intruder.
