Today I had to drop youngest DD at one of those drop in child care places. (Oh, and she called it the "Kidnap" place.
WTF? Maybe since there is one nearby called KidStop, but sheesh.)
Okay, so the point is, they had a little sign that said they do not take cash.
What is that about? Anyone seen that before? I thought they had to pay a fee for each credit transaction, so wouldn't it be better for them financailly to take cash?
BTW, this isn't a skanky area or anything, but maybe they fear being robbed?
Could be that they don't want to have to take a bag full of cash to the bank every evening, or maybe their workers have a tendency to dip into the till.

When my youngest son was in day care, they accepted checks or credit cards only. The reason they gave was that if it were known that cash might be in a daycare staffed primarily by women, it made a 'better' target for crooks. By not having large amounts of cash on hand, both the teachers AND the children were at less risk. And this was considered one of the safest suburbs in L.A. County.
I once rented an apartment where they had a "no cash" policy, and as with your day care center their stated reason was they didn't want to become known as a potential target for robbers. This was also a State where the law prohibited landlords from charging a penalty for late payment -- so every landlord in the State simply put in the lease "X dollars per month, minus a discount of 75 dollars if paid by the 10th of the month," which of course came to the same thing.
