So I got a new CSP last week and I feel like it's.....really dark. If there's not yellow light shining on it, it almost seems like it could be mistaken for black. It looks a lot darker than what I expected based on online images. Anyone else feel this way?
Edit: like in my sig, the CSP definitely is blue and is somewhat darker than the Freedom. But in real life, I feel like it's WAY darker, and almost looks like my Prestige from afar.
The card is A LOT darker in person than the images you see online. I would't go as far as saying mine looks as dark as the Citi Prestige from far away but it's definitely a deep navy blue.
Yup. I think the reason I noticed is that I like the whole 'sapphire' design you see in online images...but in person, it's just very dark navy and full-fill. Can't really tell the design too well. Also, when I got my card, there's a pinpoint size spec of the card paint missing, like it got scratch off or something. It's so annoying! I always notice it.
Does this really matter in the long run apart from the esthetics? you're still love your bonus points one you meet your spending requirement.
pritomd can you explain to me what the voluntary CL reduction noted for a number of your cards stems from or why you did that? I have never seen that before.

This always comes up when design of a card is the topic.
The short answer is, no. The design of a card obviously doesn't effect the potential great rewards.
With that said, pretty things do matter to a lot of people which is why so much effort goes into design for many card companies. It's known that people are attracted to design of cards in addition to (if not more) than rewards. I mean how many people spend money on an AF card for the design (or prestige) alone. More than that will admit to it.
Well, regarding the aesthetics...I'm just making conversation! Of course it doesn't matter in the long run. But just felt like talking about something besides points, CLIs, etc.

I did it because I wanted to re-open a card I closed. I got rejected because I had too much credit with Citi, and they said other banks count too. It ended up not mattering because I forgot to call them back before 90 days past the closing date
I don't care too much though, I'm not a CLhoarder.
FWIW, I like that it's darker in person.
As a general rule, understated design conveys a sense of higher status than flashy design. I don't disagree that the design as shown in pics online looks really cool, but I think the more understated look in person harmonizes well with the weight of it in the hand to give an overall message of status and prestige.
Now, do I actually personally derive any feelings of status or superiority from having the card? Honestly, not at all.
But I do enjoy using it to make wine glasses go DINGGGGGGGGGG! ![]()
I agree, I like my CSP but it is a little dissapointing visually when you finally get it. Aesthetics do matter, that's why companies pour so much money into marketing and advertising, not just for points and perks.
