Job Interviews are like blind dates

I Interviewed last week for a job that was pefect for me.  I had the right experience and it paid well and Ithought I did good in the interview but I got an email that next day stating that they would not extent me an offer since I was not the most qualified candiate.

I was honest about my experince and perhaps a little too honest since I told them I was a little rusty in one of the computer languages that they were interested in.   I hadn't used that language in about 5 years.

It was a contractor job which is always risky so even tough my ego was hurt,  I have a stable civil service job, and in 4 years I can do an early retirement and take a contractor job without fear.

Yeah, job interviews are like blind dates, you never really know how well you did until you try for a second date.

Right now I'm thinking of the AC/CD song Shot down in Flames.

LOL the reject email said that if they get any related positions, they would let me know.  If I hear from them again, I'm tempted to send them the David Allen Coe song or that immortal line from the Kid Rock song American Bad Ass.

Oh, do send them the Coe song! I keep looking for a version I could burn on to a CD that I could mail in as my resignation announcement.

LOL, I hear ya. I'm being chased to switch to a full-time work from home contractor job, and as tempted as I am, it would be insane to give up the day job in this current (and future) economy.

But wow, working at home on my own schedule, in a different branch of where I am now; hard to get that idea out of my head!

Re: Job Interviews are like blind dates

Wow....I can hardly remember mine. I've only had one real job since college. Some old dude interviewed me. And I remember thinking, "this old dude ain't gonna hire me". Little did I know that "old dude" would turn out to be one of the strong influences in my professional life.  He's retired now, but every so often (especially when I interview prospective employees) I think of him. I guess when I do interview someone now, they're 'prolly thinking to themselves......"this old dude ain't gonna hire me."
