Mac with Firefox?

I'm new to Mac and having trouble loading some pages with my CU.  Is it safe to download firefox to my Macbook?  Would I need to purchase a virus software if I did?  thanks

I used Firefox with my Mac for a long time...never had an issue. 

 

I use Chrome now but I don't think you need to download anti-virus software just because you're going to get Firefox.

Yup, you'll be fine with FF and no antivirus.  Just practice safe internet browsing habits.
