Because the names for the "ranks" are odd?

It currently goes, in order:

New Visitor

Visitor

Established Visitor

Valued Visitor

New Member

Member

Established Member

Valued Member

New Contributor

Contributor

Regular Contributor

Frequent Contributor

Established Contributor

Valued Contributor

Senior Contributor

Super Contributor

Mega Contributor

Epic Contributor

Legendary Contributor

...so "New Contributor" is about halfway down the list. 

Odd? Yes.

Completely meaningless? Also yes.

The rankings are determined by minutes spent on the board, messages read among others.  I see you only have 68 posts.... Keep at it and you will reach your desired level soon.

Was it under a different username? There are no demotions on here so that would be the only reasonable explanation for your current ranking..
