Mint.com worth it?

I've been looking at the mint.com site and started to set up an account but am wondering if it's worth it. Seems like it can be handy to see everything in one place. I don't need to keep track of my spending and I'm wondering if balance transfers would throw things off.  I think I'd only use it to see the summery of all of my accounts.

Re: Mint.com worth it?

Well, it is free. So, I'm not sure what you mean by "worth it".

But, it can be useful for managing your accounts.

Re: Mint.com worth it?

It's totally worth it! Mint shows me where all my money goes. LOL

Mint will randomly mistake your credit limit for your balance. No real biggie.

Has anyone been able to add Fingerhut to Mint.com?

Re: Mint.com worth it?

Mint is great. I love using it. One of the neat things is that you can make your own categories, so you could make one for balance transfers and handle that issue. It does require some manual work though, especially for custom categories and if one transaction has subtotals for various categories (like buying toothpaste while grocery shopping for example).

One warning, they do not work with Walmart cards. I'm not sure about other GE products since I only have Walmart. All of my other cards work just fine.

Re: Mint.com worth it?

Yeah, Mint can be great if it works.  I had too many accounts that it couldn't access, so I eventually stopped using it.  Reminds me that I should look for an alternative.

Re: Mint.com worth it?

My Cap1 cards are linked so I had to stop when I got to those and found that they couldn't access the cards. I unlinked them and now have to wait 3 days to be able to use the same user names that I had before (I have a specific way of assigning user names for all my cards).  Trying to decide if I should keep going with the process.

Re: Mint.com worth it?

I didn't much care for it, but many people like it. At least its free, so you could try it out.

I personally use a self-made spreadsheet.

I have a main sheet that I use to budget: keep track of all my due dates, what accounts I have set for autopayments (example: Amazon Instant Video's "one click" is funded by my Amazon Store CC), and it totals all my savings, checking, and credit card balances together. Then each account has its own sheet, kind of like a checkbook. Heck, my credit card sheets have "available credit" and "utilization percentage" calculated - it does the math on its own.

Works for me, every pay day I look up the due dates of what bills are due before the next pay day, and I simply pay theme. I'm never late, unless I end up in the hospital (true story).

Re: Mint.com worth it?

Of the other sites that have been mentioned, has anyone had accounts that they couldn't list on there?

I only have 7 credit cards and 1 auto loan. My budget is the same every month so I really don't need anything special to keep track of things. I just thought something like this would be good to see all of my accounts in one place and I might find it benefical to watch where money goes.
