Seeing how question is asking for subjective opinion, there is no right or wrong answer. There is no One Card To Rule Them All, and you cant play Dungeons and Dragons with them, so no Dungeon Master either.
I VIGOROUSLY disagree 😡 there is one card that Rulz them all...The Ollo Optimum 2.5% MC!!
Invite only!😁🙋♂️🤷♂️
Oooh there’s another 2.5 card out there.... I guess the Alliant VS is old news now lol
I'd say Chase Amazon Prime. The 5% back when you shop a lot on amazon is superb and adds up fast.
And Uber Visa. The 4% back on Restaurants (and my local deli) is great. Only thing I hate is the small CL on mine ![]()

@pinkandgrey wrote:I’ll second the Sam’s for the main reason that it offers great gas rewards. I would also say the Amex BCE. People always seem to think that the BCE is useless but the BCP is amazing. Yes, I get that the BCP has higher rewards, but for a lot of people, the lower rewards is compensated for by the lack of AF.
Honestly the BCE falls flat against a lot of other cards. Both BoTW and UMB cards are unlimited 3% back on groceries but also gas and dining and the UMB card even codes all Walmart and Target stores because it covers discount stores specifically in addition to grocery stores. Acceptance is also higher as well because they're not Amex or Disco.
In Amex network land, the NFCU More Rewards also has 3X points for groceries but also 3X gas and 2X dining.
I never really understood why people like the BCE to be honest. Amex disqualification of specific merchants regardless of MCC classification makes the card very limited compared to a VISA/MC.See?? These are the people I’m talking about!!! Lolol yeah I get what you’re saying. I just like Amex and Amex cards tend to be more accessible than cards from UMB or BotW. I still like my BCE
The BoTW card is actually not that hard to get. UMB is though.
I get that you like it because it's AMEX. I am just saying that in terms of rewards, it's not so much underrated because it's not that exceptional compared to other cards on the market that offer more.
That said, I can't really say much because I have come around on the AMEX love and my Cash Magnet will likely be getting a lot of usage given the benefits that card offers.

Really? I guess I was under the impression that Bank of the West was insanely conservative and unlikely to lend to the average consumer. You should go for it! Report back your findings lol

Well, on that one, you have to spend 4K/year before you break even and start to earn anything because of AF.

They're conservative with credit limits but from what I've seen they're not as strict with approvals as UMB.
Regardless though, without a SUB and nothing I don't get from another card, I would rather not put this one in my sights. The UMB is there because there are times where getting 3% back for buying from Walmart could be nice and UMB includes discount stores as well as grocery stores.

You have the BBVA Clear Points, I have mine set for 3% groceries and get 3% at Walmart as mine codes as grocery. You can check your local Walmart's MCC with this Visa Supplier Locator:
https://www.visa.com/supplierlocator-app/app/#/home/supplier-locator
Pretty much every Walmart in southern Arizona codes as grocery, even the big Super Centers. It may be because Tucson has a ban against "big box stores", limits the max square feet of a store. So there's only Walmart Neighborhood Marts in Tucson, but there's a whole bunch of them.
I actually have an account at Bank of the West currently, my favorite past time of chasing bank account SUBs. But I agree, I have those rewards covered with other cards and with no SUB, I'll pass.

NFCU Flagship is 2.5% !
(if half of your expenses are travel related)

As another Costco member, completely disagree. The Costco card can't beat anything that I have in any way. The Costco card may be great for some but for me it's garbage and will never be in my CC list.
I completely agree with you that there is a plethora of cards that beat the Costco Citi VISA in every category. Even my Vantage West VISA can be switched to be a 5% club membership card. My employer even pays for my Costco executive membership, yet I have no desire to apply for the Costco Citi VISA.
However I also understand that some people's spend is not that great each month, and their decision to keep their wallet simple with a 4-3-2-1 card is also understandable.
All subjective.

Target 5% anyone?, Going once, going twice?
Disco it 5% + 5% 1st year cash match on Category spend? = Just maxed out Gas spend.
now onto Chase Freedom 5% Gas Category
New to Chase? FU 3% ???
And Yes I do use Chase Amazon Prime for 5%
