People always seem to think that the BCE is useless but the BCP is amazing. Yes, I get that the BCP has higher rewards, but for a lot of people, the lower rewards is compensated for by the lack of AF.
Honestly the BCE falls flat against a lot of other cards. Both BoTW and UMB cards are unlimited 3% back on groceries but also gas and dining and the UMB card even codes all Walmart and Target stores because it covers discount stores specifically in addition to grocery stores. Acceptance is also higher as well because they're not Amex or Disco.
In Amex network land, the NFCU More Rewards also has 3X points for groceries but also 3X gas and 2X dining.
I never really understood why people like the BCE to be honest. Amex disqualification of specific merchants regardless of MCC classification makes the card very limited compared to a VISA/MC.See?? These are the people I’m talking about!!! Lolol yeah I get what you’re saying. I just like Amex and Amex cards tend to be more accessible than cards from UMB or BotW. I still like my BCE
I like BCE just because pinkandgrey Has it, so there![]()

Boom. BCE for the win.
Underrated cards can break through here. An old (and sadly "late") example is Sallie Mae. There was one person on here who was often promoting it (can't remember who and way too lazy I mean busy to search). Many people, including myself, were unimpressed because of the relatively low caps, then I guess we did the math (or your favourite cliche here) and realized it was a very good card, 5% on groceries/gas/"bookstores" which included any Amazon purchase.
And when it died there was much sadness from us initial disbelievers.
And, for pinkandgrey, this was a BCE killer, there was no grocery spend level where Sallie Mae wasn't equal or better. Even though grocery spend was capped at $3000 rather than $6000, the higher rate more than made up for that (+ 3% more on gas, and 4% more on books/amazon)
But now it's gone, BCE is back in the game, a very little!
Can somebody tell me who won the cage match, Costco or Sam's Club?
I cannot move onto BCE vs whomever without this info

I dunno, but they both ended up bloodied and with cauliflower ear.
(For the record I've had the Sam's Club MasterCard since 2015 and it's been solid. Also, I would have a Sam's membership anyway so for me it's fee-free.)

You have no idea how long I looked for kudo button. Blamed it on caffeine malfunction, too.

LOL! Sorry about that. ![]()
It's alright. I am caffeinated enough to fight a grizzly bear, which is perfectly fine because I am off to Walmart
It has to be a small bear, though.
Going to pay with my overrated phone using my underrated card.
