What do you think? I'm a fan of the old design, and I think I'll hold out as long as possible. If you have this card registered with Apple Pay, open Passbook, and you'll see the new design automatically.

Neither am I, but the $30 AF increase offsets "Complimentary" Premium In-Room Internet Access and no FTF among a few other new benefits. I was just at Starwood property where the Premium In-Room Internet Access was $12.95 / night. The friendly front-desk folks gave me an access code, though.

Ah yeah, there were a few topics talking about the design change. As an art student with experience in graphic design, I'm usually pretty critical when it comes to the design of anything, including CCs—this one isn't the best design I've seen, but it definitely doesn't look unpleasant, at least, on screen. I wonder how it'll translate in the actual physical card.
I really have to congratulate Amex for the purple colour, though. It seems that most cards I've seen are either monochome (which can either look very nice and classy, or quite ugly!), red, or blue; Furthermore, the colour purple has often been associated with royalty, which implies wealth, and a CC making you think this way can be a very positive feeling (or, heh, a dangerous feeling that can cause you to spend more, which might work out just fine for Amex, hahaha!). I'm all for more unsual colours in cards.

I was always a fan of the old SPG design when I had one. I thought it looked sharp, and it worked very well. I do like the design of the new one, but the color is not appropriate at all. I think there's a very obvious reason why purple credit cards are not very common...
Not a fan of the color and never been a fan of cards with American Express written off to the side like that.

When I book the hotel rooms, they now come with wifi included? Think they used that as back door to raise prices. Only place need to pay for wifi access is airport, get that in lounge.

HHMMPPHH. Purple is my favorite color (why the Discover color I use). Everyone has a preference, not a fan of the red nor silver aviator colors, but they are useful none the less.
