Skin Tags...kind of gross

but in order to save myself a dr. visit, I decided to chop one off myself.  Not a good idea.  Horribly painful and blood everywhere.

So fair warning.....don't do it!!!!!  Smiley Very Happy

I'm with you Mas. What's a skin tag? Perhaps they are known by some other name elsewhere in the country.

Skin tags are those funny little outgrowths of skin that some people have on their necks and armpits. I once had one on my eyelid just before I had to go on some interviews. Had a doctor take it off, but because it was on the eyelid they couldn't inject it with any anesthetic. Hurt like h***, and have you ever tried to put a band-aid on your eyelid?

Insurance companies don't typically cover the removal of skin tags, because they are benign (with no malignant potential at all) and the procedure is considered to be cosmetic. If you tell your doctor that they are causing you pain (e.g. your shirt rubs against the tag and it hurts or bleeds), then the procedure can be covered by insurance if your doctor documents the reasons very clearly. It worked for me a couple months ago.

OUCH!!! Okay, I didn't have a name for them. I would say that if you are going to do it yourself, be liquored up like fish was the other night. Smiley Very Happy

LOL!!! I have done the same thing. If you hold a piece of ice on it before you go snipping it won't hurt as much and keep it from bleeding.
