So annoyed with USPS!

So I'm home on injury leave from my job and I have been for quite some time now. Now I am finally rehabbing and getting ready to go back, but given the physical and dangerous nature of my job I have to be evaluated by their doctors and such. The city sent me the forms I need to fill out via USPS certified mail, but my mailman refuses to ring my doorbell! This has happened three times in the last 2 weeks now! It's so frustrating because he can't even say he tried to and I didn't answer. My apartment building has it set up so when the bell is rung, my cell phone rings and I let the person in from there. He just leaves the form saying I wasn't home! Ugh.

Rant over, sorry everyone. Have a great day!

Re: So annoyed with USPS!

Our house has no USPS geographical location, and as such we are not allowed to have a mailbox at our house.  NO, it must be on a post .5 miles from our house on a street that is not connected to the road we live on or our physical location in any fashion.  Our house sits on a road that can have a posted mailbox, as our neighbor 1000 feet away has , however the USPS has seen fit to not give us an address linked to our physical location.  When we punch it into gps or google maps it brings our location up 5 miles

South/west of our location on the other side of the highway, while our mailbox location is .5 miles north east of our house.

It has been like this for 35 years.  I have tried and failed to have this fixed over the years and it is fruitless.  So, we walk .5 mile to our mailbox and back daily, during the summer I make the trek at night because it is like 110 until about 8pm.  I take my iphone for music.  I used to drive but then a retaining wall went up in the highway making it terribly difficult to go and come as we need any longer.  Access greatly restricted.

usps can be a pain in the backside for sure!  I hear ya!

Re: So annoyed with USPS!

Wow I feel for you both. I hate when they leave that without even trying! Last month they delivered my package to the neighbors across the street no less. We Have big enough #s on our house and across the street is odd #s so how can they make that mistake?

Re: So annoyed with USPS!

I know how you feel. I got a paper in the mail saying that I had 4 certified letters that they were trying to deliver, but someone is ALWAYS at our house, especially since my dad is recovering from his stroke. No one has rung the door bell. I was so confused. I guess the mail people are just too lazy.

Re: So annoyed with USPS!

Same thing also happened to me (USPS left a note for a package without even knocking on the door, leaving packages at the wrong house, etc).  Then I started tipping them (at Christmases), now things go much smoother. lol  I know we shouldn't have to give them extra incentives to do their job but sometimes that's what it takes.

Re: So annoyed with USPS!

Most fortunate after reading these comments. My mail person knows where I live (doesn't ring the door bell but does leave the mail).
