The atmosphere of the forums is changing...

Lately I have noticed that there is a lot more tension on the forums...more people being bitingly sarcastic and even rude at times (at least the way I'm reading some of these threads).

Has anyone else noticed this?  Do you think it's because people are stressed about the holidays & the economy?

It's kind of ironic, because people here used to say not to go over to CB, because the people there can sometimes be downright rude...

I think it comes and goes in cycles.  These days there are more issues that bring out the best and worst in posters but I have seen some realy bad flame wars here.

Actually we really havent had a good flame war in some time.

An awful lot of endless sniping, though. Posts where it's hard to pinpoint one over-the-top sentence, but the whole thing is nasty and condescending.

To all our members: if you would, when you see a thread going wrong, could you please let the mods know? Click "options", and then choose "report abuse to a moderator."

The mods are not just a bunch of politically correct prisses (hardly, lol), waiting to jump on free speech --we're trying to keep the forums a reasonably informative, supportive, and enjoyable place to be.

People are cranky because of TC.

It is Christmas - people get cranky because it is one of the most stressful times of the year  Smiley Happy

Add in a financial collapse, job losses, retirement savings losses etc ad nauseum, and you get miserable people

The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

LOL I have seen threads go bad after someone saying welcome to the forum.  Funny thing the new member bagged a troll on their first shot.

This is still a great group and especially compared to a few of the other similar boards. There are places that I avoid like the plague, others that I have to just bite my tongue, err....index fingers.

Nice enough group here though, enjoy participating. Group hug. Smiley Very Happy

I really do mean this as a compliment to this forum -- in all honesty I haven't yet noticed anything that the op is referring to. My impression is that over the last few months that I've been here everyone's consistently been well-mannered, pleasant, and helpful.

That is nice of you to say, since I was going to appologize to you since I snapped one morning at you and didn't mean for it to be that way. So, I am sorry for being snippy on that occassion. It isn't like me to do so. I've had some health and personal issues which get the better of me at times and I tend to take it out on whoever is at hand. I will be more mindful in the future. Smiley Sad
